Half sew-in & Half conrow pairs two distinct methods: a sew-in section where extensions are attached to a braided base, and a cornrow section braided close to the scalp. At Josie Hair Braiding the sew-in portion requires you to bring your own extension hair; the salon does not supply extensions for this service.
The final shape comes from three things: your natural hair density, the extension type you bring, and the braid pattern you choose. These factors affect volume, part definition, and how the two sections blend. Appointments are scheduled with Duration: 180 minutes as a baseline, though exact time varies by complexity and density.
What happens at your appointment
Appointments begin with a consultation to confirm parting, size, and placement. If you ordered unusual or new bundling you may be asked to drop off hair ahead of time — Josie has experience working with different bundles when clients bring them in. The braiding process includes careful parting, gentle tension, and scalp care during finishing.

Because we sit in Downtown West Orange, the salon schedules flexible early and late slots to suit commuters using I-280 or transit, and weekend times for busy families visiting the area.

Maintenance depends on your lifestyle and local climate. New Jersey’s humid summers can create frizz, while winter dryness and storms require extra scalp moisture and gentle handling. Protect at night with a satin scarf or bonnet, avoid heavy product buildup at the base, and refresh edges as needed to preserve crisp parts and overall neatness.
Longevity also ties to the extension quality you bring, your hair’s thickness, and daily care habits. For clients with fine or thinning hair we can add hair at the base of knotless-style sections for a fuller look.
